Noctuidae: Herminiinae

SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The HERMINIINAE possess various distinct characteristics which suggest to
some that they should
be a family in their own right. They appear to be a 'natural' grouping of truly
related species whose features may include 'fan-shaped' forelegs; prominent and
upcurved palps and antennae with central swellings or other unusual features. Most are
small to very small in size, very dark in general coloration and delicate in
general appearance.
