CHARGES

My standard personal teaching charge for A-level and higher is £40-00 per hour. This includes all supply of 'past papers', marking and preparation - plus the assurance that you are being served by a full-time, highly-experienced, professional tutor who will not let you down when a new job becomes available (a number of my students have been previously 'left in the lurch' by graduate students and others who thought they would 'do a bit of tutoring' and left unexpectedly for the next job). Practical classes and examination entry fees are charged separately by the examination centre, if these services are required (see Practical classes/Examination centre). Educational advice; writing of UCAS references and similar services (such as dealing with queries to examination boards) are also charged at £40 per hour. Regrettably I will not normally teach GCSE, but can sometimes do so if the student is proceeding to A-level with me. Otherwise, if 'pushed' I can sometimes teach GCSE - but at £50 per hour to reflect its tedious nature!

Absences from my tutorials are not charged for, provided a message explaining that you will be absent is left on my answering-machine before the scheduled start of the tutorial. If no message is left by the scheduled time of the tutorial the full rate will be charged unless you have an excellent excuse. As my services are usually in very heavy demand I regret that I cannot teach students who persistently fail to keep apppointments - for whatever reason - as these slots could be made available to more conscientious students.

Fees are payable monthly in arrears on invoice. Prompt payment is requested or fees will have to be collected in advance.

Payment to other tutors depends upon the nature of my arrangement with the tutor. Tutors recommended by me on a reciprocal basis are paid directly by the student, at whatever rate the tutor charges, and I have no further involvement. Tutors working under my direction are charged out at £40 per hour. I only recommend or use tutors whom I know from personal experience or reliable recommendation are reliable and experienced.

There is no VAT, registration fee or other 'hidden extras' charged for my services (although VAT and/or registration fees may apply to practical class and examination centre fees). Although regular weekly 'slots' make my timetabling easier (and I may teach up to 60 hours per week during term-time) if you only want a few lessons I will see what I can do. I try to be as flexible as possible within the bounds of making a living.
