SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The species of the small subfamily NOCTUINAE hold their wings outstretched at
rest rather than at an angle over the back and possess rows of spines on
their hind-tibiae. Many are major agricultural pests as larvae,
especially the 'cutworms' of the genus
Agrotis.
